President Donald Trump jokingly dismissed on Thursday the idea of wearing a bulletproof vest after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner due to concerns of looking “20 pounds heavier.”

Trump was asked during an Oval Office executive ceremony about “security changes” that would take place after Saturday’s incident. In particular, Trump was asked whether there were talks about him “wearing a bulletproof vest moving forward.”

“I don’t know if I can handle looking 20 pounds heavier,” Trump quipped. “Some of these guys are physical specimens. If you want to gain 20 to 25 pounds, get a vest.”

Trump said it was something he’d been asked about but wasn’t in favor of.

“You don’t like to do it because you’re giving in to a bad element,” the president said.

Trump was also asked if he was nervous about “another assassination attempt,” after having survived two before Saturday’s shooting.

“I don’t think about it,” Trump said. “If I did, I wouldn’t be doing a very good job here. I’d be thinking about nothing but that. I don’t think about it. If I did, I wouldn’t be effective.”
