Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche will meet with Senate Republicans Thursday morning about the Department of Justice’s “anti-weaponization” fund as the party weighs restrictions on the $1.776 billion compensation measure that lawmakers fear could benefit U.S. Capitol rioters from Jan. 6 or allies of President Donald Trump.

“Obviously, our members have very legitimate questions about it,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) told reporters. “We’ve had some conversations about … if it’s going to be a feature going forward, about what it might look like and how we might make sure that it’s fenced in appropriately.”
