The United States and China will reportedly hold talks over artificial intelligence in September to discuss the risks posed by their increasingly powerful frontier models and the tensions that have arisen as they compete for dominance in the AI race.

The dates have not yet been finalized, but the meeting is expected sometime before Chinese President Xi Jinping’s planned Sept. 24 visit to the U.S., Reuters reported, citing multiple sources. It constitutes the first U.S.-China dialogue on AI under the Trump administration.
