El Sayed minimizes Hasan Piker’s role in Michigan Senate race: ‘He’s a streamer’

Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul el Sayed waved off Twitch streamer Hasan Piker‘s role in the state’s bruising Democratic primary, saying he does not share Piker’s perspective that the party should rally behind the recent winner.

Piker has become one of the loudest voices in the progressive flank of the Democratic Party, stumping for el Sayed throughout the primary campaign trail, in which el Sayed was facing off against Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI). The streamer recently attended el Sayed’s election night party and has defended the candidate against critics who questioned his electability and accused opponents of unfairly targeting him.
