The Trump administration has returned $100 billion from revenue it gleaned from tariffs the Supreme Court tossed out in February, months after the high court ruled the tariffs lacked a proper legal basis.
The funds were sent to the Treasury Department for disbursement, according to a court filing this week in the U.S. Court of International Trade, marking a refund of over half of the revenue collected in tariffs that the Supreme Court struck down earlier this year. Nearly $29 billion in possible refunds is still under review by authorities, while another $1.6 billion in potential reimbursements is backlogged because importers have not yet supplied their banking details.
