Montel Williams announced Thursday night his endorsement of Republican presidential candidate John Kasich for the party’s nomination.
The former talk show host told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren he had chosen to throw his support behind the Ohio governor because he best embodied conservative ideals.
“If there’s one thing 22 years in the military taught me, it’s that we need an adult in the White House… That adult is Kasich,” Williams wrote in an op-ed posted Thursday night.
Williams is a retired Naval Intelligence Officer who went on to host a long-running talk show. Since the show ended, he has focused on advocating for members of the military and veterans.
“We may not agree on every issue, but we share a common vision for a stronger, more unified America. I am truly grateful for his support,” Kasich said in a statement.
