Planned Parenthood warns Trump is ‘too dangerous’ for women

Planned Parenthood’s political action group released a new TV ad this week blasting Donald Trump as “too dangerous for women.”

The half-minute ad from Planned Parenthood Action replays a clip of Trump arguing women who have sought abortions should face some form of punishment, comments the Republican presidential candidate soon retracted.

The video also includes clips of Trump stating he is “pro-life” and asserting that “Planned Parenthood should absolutely be defunded.” Planned Parenthood Action further claims the Republican wants the Supreme Court’s 1973 decision legalizing abortion nationwide Roe v. Wade overturned and abortion banned.

“When it comes to health, politicians shouldn’t make decisions for women,” reads text at the beginning of the ad.

Trump was asked in a March MSNBC interview if he would ban abortion if elected president and how he would enforce such a law.

“The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment,” Trump said. “For the woman?” MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews asked and the billionaire responded, “Yeah, there has to be some form.”

The Republican presidential nominee issued a statement the same day after the exchange was widely circulated and criticized, in which he asserted he is “pro-life with exceptions.”

“If Congress were to pass legislation making abortion illegal and the federal courts upheld this legislation, or any state were permitted to ban abortion under state and federal law, the doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman,” said Trump in the statement. “The woman is a victim in this case as is the life in her womb. My position has not changed — like Ronald Reagan, I am pro-life with exceptions.”
