Bobby Goodlatte on Monday blasted his father, House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte, for playing a role in the investigation of former FBI special agent Peter Strzok, who was fired by the FBI the same day.
“I’m deeply embarrassed that Peter Strzok’s career was ruined by my father’s political grandstanding. That committee hearing was a low point for Congress,” wrote the son of the Virginia Republican congressman. The father oversaw a heated public session of the congressional investigation into Strzok’s bias against Trump.

Strzok was fired Friday after sending anti-Trump text messages to a former FBI colleague, with whom he had been having an extramarital affair. His public hearing in July before a joint session of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees descended into chaos as GOP and Democratic members of the panels clashed throughout his testimony.
Bobby Goodlatte’s public statements against the Republican lawmaker follows his announcement on Sunday that he had donated the maximum amount to the Democratic candidate running to replace his father in Virginia’s 6th Congressional District. Bob Goodlatte declared in November that he had no intention of seeking re-election during the 2018 midterm election cycle.

The Goodlatte family drama comes as Stephen Miller’s uncle blasted the White House senior policy adviser Monday in an opinion piece published by Politico. David Glosser slammed Miller for helping the Trump administration roll out its so-called travel ban and implement its zero tolerance policy toward illegal immigrant that resulted in family separations at the border.
“I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, who is an educated man and well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country,” wrote Glosser, a retired neuropsychologist.
