Two killed, four others shot in Northwest D.C. shootings

Two people were killed and four others were injured in shootings late Wednesday and this morning in Northwest D.C., police said.

The first incident, in which four people were shot, occurred about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 5000 block of First Street NW.

One victim, 19-year-old Crevontai Key of Northeast D.C., was taken to a hospital by D.C. Fire and EMS personnel and later died. A 15-year-old boy who was grazed by a bullet and a 17-year-old boy were taken to the hospital in serious condition, police said. A 21-year-old man was taken to a hospital by a family member and has been released, police spokeswoman Officer Tisha Gant said.

The second shooting incident occurred about 2:20 a.m. in the 600 block of Morton Street NW. Julius Barnett Ellington, 35, of Northwest D.C., was pronounced dead at a hospital, and another man was taken to a hospital in stable condition, Gant said.

Police were looking for a dark-colored vehicle in connection with the second shooting.

It wasn’t known whether the two shootings were related.
