With Childress out, is Favre next?

Maybe the Vikings were jealous of the Cowboys’ recent success. Minnesota became the second team of the season to fire its coach, cutting ties with Brad Childress on Monday.

Dallas has won two straight since firing Wade Phillips and Minnesota hopes interim coach Leslie Frazier can spark some life back into the struggling squad.

But at 3-7 and with playoff dreams long gone, the Brett Favre Saga will continue.

The Vikings have little use for a 41-year-old quarterback who doesn’t fit into the team’s plans beyond this season. … Is it finally time for Tarvaris Jackson?

It may be, but don’t expect Favre to bow out quietly. A guy doesn’t start an NFL-record 295 straight games to just quit. Favre will want to go out with a bang.

There only are a few venues left on the Favre farewell tour. Let’s just hope there aren’t any more encores.
