Cruz will stump for Blunt in Missouri

Sen. Ted Cruz will stump for endangered Sen. Roy Blunt in Missouri next week in a rare campaign appearance for the ex-presidential candidate and conservative firebrand.

Cruz, R-Texas, has already sent out a fundraising letter on behalf of Blunt, who is fighting for his political life in one of the closest Senate races.

Cruz will make a joint appearance with Blunt, who has sunk in the polls in recent weeks and is now tied with his Democratic opponent, Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander. He’s hoping to rally Blunt’s conservative base when they appear at a “get out the vote rally” on Nov. 2 at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

In October, Cruz sent out a fundraising missive on behalf of Blunt and other embattled GOP Senators, including Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire and Richard Burr, of North Carolina.

Blunt is a member of the Senate GOP leadership, which Cruz has frequently challenged during his Senate tenure.
