Kanye West says his arrest for allegedly pushing a paparazzo’s camera into his face was totally bogus. No charges were filed after the Friday incident outside a British nightclub, and the outspoken rapper says it’s a case of the media making him a target.
Kanye posted a message on his blog — in all caps, so you know he’s really serious — explaining that when he saw the snapper waiting outside the club, “I put my hand up to prevent him from taking my image. I didn’t assault him, but merely [put] my hand up to cover his lens. … I guess in all the commotion, the camera scraped his nose.”
Hours later, he says, officers knocked on his door: As they drove him, handcuffed, to the station, they “spoke about how this was obviously a publicity stunt by the photographer, but they still had to go through the motions.” (Indeed, TMZ reports that the same pap had previously accused a soccer star of assault — and the allegations were found to be unfounded.)
The outcome for the hip-hop star? “Even though I wasn’t charged, the damage was done. Sure enough, the next morning, plastered across every media outlet … Kanye gets arrested. It didn’t matter that I wasn’t charged or the fact that I hadn’t assaulted anybody.”
Wow. We actually find ourselves sympathizing with Kanye.
Stone cold
“Devastated” after losing custody of her son, Sharon Stone has parted ways with her half-her-age beau, the U.K.’s Mail reports.
The “Basic Instinct” star, 50, had reportedly been seeing Chase Dreyfous, 24, since June; they met through her charity endeavors.
But when ex-husband Phil Bronstein was granted full custody of adoptive son Roan, 8, Sharon was left reeling — especially by allegations that her wacky parenting methods included wanting Botox injections for Roan’s smelly feet.
“The whole custody thing really devastated Sharon,” a source told the paper. “She has always devoted herself 100 percent to her children. The stuff about the Botox and so on that came up in court was totally invented. But the sad fact is it took the spark out of her relationship with Chase.”
The actress is reportedly scouting homes in San Francisco, where Roan lives full-time with his dad. (She also has two other sons she adopted solo: Laird, 3, and Quinn, 2.)
Sharon’s rep was mum, while Chase commented, “I’ve known Sharon for about a year and a half. We’ve always been friends.”
We would probably feel more emotional about this if we had known Sharon Stone had a boyfriend in the first place.
