Reports: Trump called Romney following election night upset

President-elect Trump reportedly reached out to Mitt Romney following Election Day, despite the 2012 GOP nominee’s repeated criticisms of Trump on the campaign trail.

It’s unclear what the two talked about, according to reports, but news of the phone call from Trump have surfaced days after Trump said he would like to keep some parts of the Affordable Care Act intact after meeting with President Obama.

Romney implemented a series of healthcare reforms in 2006 while he was serving as governor of Massachusetts, which were aimed at ensuring all of the state’s residents had healthcare coverage.

Trump told the Wall Street Journal on Friday that he would consider keeping two parts of Obama’s signature healthcare law: the prohibition on denying health insurance for a pre-existing condition and the section that allows parents to cover their children’s healthcare until they turn 26.

Romney repeatedly spoke out against Trump during the campaign, including in June when he said the newly-elected president would implement “trickle-down racism.”
