More Women Vote for Bernie Than Hillary, N.H. Exit Polls Show

Exit polling shows Bernie Sanders winning more female voters than Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire primary Tuesday night.

At least 53 percent stated they cast a ballot for the Vermont senator and primary winner, media outlets reported. The result earned a joke from CNN contributor and former Obama administration aide David Axelrod.

“We heard Madeline Albright say ‘there’s a special place in Hell for women who don’t help other women‘ — well, they’d better make some room down there,” he said during CNN’s election coverage.

Clinton also continued her immense struggles among youth, netting just 16 percent of voters between ages 18 and 29, according to numbers from CNN. The result among voters under the age of 44 weren’t much better, with Clinton taking only 24 percent. Sanders captured 83 percent and 74 percent among those groups, respectively.

Wolf Blitzer called the results a “wow” moment.

The former secretary of state didn’t fare well with young voters in Iowa, either. As a headline from the Washington Post‘s Chris Cilizza noted, “Bernie Sanders crushed Hillary Clinton by 70 points among young voters in Iowa“.

Clinton admitted she had “work to do, particularly with young people” during her concession speech Tuesday night.

“Even if they aren’t supporting me now, I support them,” she added.
