Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filed cloture motions Tuesday evening on the nomination for President Trump’s State secretary nominee Rex Tillerson. The cloture vote for the former ExxonMobil CEO is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m.
The vote to end cloture will require 51 votes in favor, which is expected as Republicans hold the majority of seats in the upper chamber.
The Senate will vote on the nomination of Elaine L. Chao for Transportation secretary on Tuesday, Feb. 1 around noon. Chao is the wife of McConnell and former Labor secretary under former President George W. Bush.
