Expert: Trump poised to win Latino votes, ‘wall and all’

An expert in how Latinos vote is projecting Donald Trump the GOP winner of Hispanics on Super Tuesday.

“Republican Latinos find Trump appealing for the same reason that other Republicans seem to,” said Richard Herrera, associate director of Arizona State University’s School of Politics and Global Studies.

“He’s a voice for those who are angry with politics as usual, and he offers himself as an outsider option,” he added in an ASU blog post titled, “Trump might capture Latino support, wall and all, on Super Tuesday.”

On that election day, March 1, several states with substantial percentages of Latinos vote.

The post noted that Trump did well with the Latino vote this week in Nevada, despite his aggressive anti-immigration position.

Herrera noted, however, that the group of Republican Hispanic voters is relatively small, and that most still break Democratic.
