Beto O’Rourke condemned a fellow Texan for making what he said was a death threat against him after the Democratic presidential debate in Houston.
O’Rourke, a fierce advocate of gun control, was cheered for saying that if he is elected president, he would take action to remove weapons from gun owners in America.
“Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” the former congressman said.
He repeated the statement on Twitter, to which Republican Texas state Rep. Briscoe Cain replied, “My AR is ready for you Robert Francis.”
After the debate ended, O’Rourke responded to the Republican, “This is a death threat, Representative. Clearly, you shouldn’t own an AR-15—and neither should anyone else.”
Cain, who was elected to represent Texas House District 128 in 2016, shot back, “You’re a child Robert Francis.”

O’Rourke’s campaign told CNN, “We are reporting to FBI.”
Twitter took down Briscoe’s tweet. A Twitter representative told the Guardian, “it violates our rules for threats of violence.”
O’Rourke also tweeted out a fundraising link boasting his gun control bona fides.
