The Florida governor’s race is officially too close to call, according to a new Quinnipiac University Poll.
The survey shows 44 percent of likely voters back Republican Gov. Rick Scott, 42 percent support former Gov. Charlie Crist and 8 percent back Libertarian Adrian Wyllie.
Without Wyllie as an option, Scott gets 46 percent and Crist gets 44 percent.
“Wyllie voters are the bigger unknown because there is little way of predicting if they will stay with the third-party challenger or decide to switch to Scott or Crist in order to be with a winner,” Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said.
Voters don’t consider either major candidate to be honest: 51 percent felt Scott is not honest, and 49 percent feel Crist is not honest.
With Election Day six weeks away, 81 percent said their mind is made up, while 17 percent said they might change their mind.
The poll was conducted with a random sample of 991 likely Florida voters from Sept. 17-22. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
