Roy Moore’s lawyer arrested

A lawyer for former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore was arrested Wednesday.

Trenton Roger Garmon, 39, is charged with driving under the influence and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Garmon was booked into the Etowah County Jail shortly before 9 p.m., according to jail records. He is being held on $3,000 bond.

The lawyer worked for Moore during his failed 2018 Senate bid. Moore, who is considering running again in 2020, threatened to sue the Washington Post and other media outlets for reporting that he allegedly had sexual contact with teenage girls when he was in his 30s. He has denied the allegations.

Garmon sent cease-and-desist letters to the news organizations in response to the reporting.
