Time to start dropping off Toys for Tots

All fire stations in the District and many local fire and rescue departments throughout the Washington area are again collecting new, unwrapped toys for needy families and underprivileged children during the holiday season as part of the 2010 Toys for Tots campaign.

For many years area fire and rescue stations have worked with the U.S. Marine Corps, as well as local community groups, civic organizations and government agencies, to make the holiday season a little better for kids and their families. Participating fire stations include those in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties (in Maryland), and Alexandria City, Arlington County, Fairfax City, Fairfax County, Prince William County, Loudon County and Stafford County (in Virginia).

Toys are intended to go to infants through 17-year-olds and will be accepted up until Dec. 24. Also being accepted are monetary donations via personal or cashier’s checks made out to “Toys for Tots Foundation.”
