Students for Life of America (SFLA) has launched a nationwide campus crusade to defund the abortion-giant, Planned Parenthood. On Tuesday, September 19, SFLA kicked off their campus tour at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. The tour, National #SockIt2PP, will travel to college campuses across the country to expose the reality of abortion and the chilling truth behind the actions of Planned Parenthood.
The launch at the National Press Club was intended to begin the pressure on Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. SFLA hopes to see the annual taxpayer money given to Planned Parenthood to be contributed instead to “Federally Qualified Health Centers.” This amount is over 500 million dollars each year.
Kristan Hawkins, president of SFLA and David Bereit, pro-life advocate, spoke at the launch, joined by Jeanne Mancini, president of March for Life. SFLA filled a truck with 328,348 baby socks to represent each baby aborted this year by Planned Parenthood and parked the truck at the press conference.
Prior to driving cross-country for the campus tour, the truck will stop at several congressional offices, including those of Senator Sherrod Brown and Senator Joe Donnelly. Finally, on September 24, the truck will return to Washington D.C. to appear at the Planned Parenthood center.
“Enough is enough!” SFLA declared. “Let’s send 328,348 baby socks to Congress — representing these voiceless victims of Planned Parenthood and calling upon our elected officials to defund the abortion Goliath.”
SFLA plans to visit over 90 campuses in over a dozen states this Fall. Some of the colleges on the tour schedule are Cedarville University, University of Houston, Texas A&M, Harvard University, and University of Oregon, to name a few. The schedule is currently posted through the middle of November, on SFLA’s website.
“Planned Parenthood has lied to the American public, committed fraud with taxpayer dollars, and has been proven to sell the body parts of baby’s they abort for profit,” Hawkins told Red Alert Politics. “Yet, Congress continually fails to defund Planned Parenthood. The pro-life generation is sick of being told to wait until another election season has passed. We are expecting Congress to uphold their promises and stop subsidizing America’s largest abortion vendor.”
