‘Deep state’s awesome control’: Lou Dobbs blasts inspector general report

Fox Business host Lou Dobbs ripped the report released by the Department of Justice inspector general while also touting some of its findings, saying it was proof of a powerful deep state.

“Long-delayed and hardly worth the wait,” Dobbs said Monday on his show. “After 621 days investigating some of the clearest abuses of power by the Obama-era intelligence agency, the Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz declared he was unable to find any political bias behind the surveillance of the 2016 Trump campaign. All this, more evidence of the radical Dems and the deep state’s awesome control of our permanent bureaucracy of our federal government.”

President Trump used the Monday release of the inspector general’s report to blast the Russian investigation into his campaign, calling it an attempted “overthrow of government.”

“It is incredible, far worse than I would’ve ever thought possible, and it’s an embarrassment to our country,” he said.

The inspector general found 17 “significant errors or omissions” by the FBI in obtaining Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants to spy on Trump campaign aide Carter Page. James Comey, who headed the FBI at the time, claimed the report vindicated him in an opinion piece he wrote for the Washington Post following the release of the report.
