Ward 3 Councilwoman Mary Cheh broke her arm and wrist while running over the weekend.
The injury requires surgery, a spokesman said, causing Cheh to miss the last council session of the year on Tuesday. The D.C. Council is set to pass the final elements of a plan to fill the budget’s $188 million gap.
Cheh also has a number of bills on the agenda Tuesday that came from her committee, including a bill that would require the city’s boards and commissions to meet publicly anytime they have enough members present to constitute a quorum. The current law only requires meeting to be public if boards and commissions meet to vote.
