Earth Day! — so redolent of the rainbow, compost and Earth Shoe. We’ll be celebrating with a tire fire and some DDT. President Obama is spending his in Iowa — his first trip back as president. Press secretary Robert Gibbs said that in addition to being a place with a lot of renewable energy, Iowa has a sentimental hold on the administration — since Obama won the Iowa caucuses.

“The truth is, we’ll never be able to — we’ll never be able to go back to Iowa without thinking about all the hard work and all the fun we had here,” Gibbs said on Air Force One. “It was — it was a memorable, memorable night, there’s no question about it.”

Awww!

Sweet surrender, what a night!
