Georgetown student attacked in sleep

A Georgetown University student was sexually assaulted at her home in the middle of the night.

Around 4 a.m. Tuesday, the assailant entered an on-campus apartment through an open window and crawled into the bed of a woman and began to sexually assault her, university police said. She screamed and the assailant fled through the front door, police said. The attack comes two days after another female student was attacked in her sleep.

Police are investigating whether the culprit is the same man who has been involved in as many as seven attacks beginning last year in and around the campus. Students have dubbed him the Georgetown Cuddler.

Ex-schools worker gets six months

A former D.C. Public Schools employee was sentenced Tuesday to six months behind bars for stealing and pawning more than $50,000 in school computer equipment. Twenty-seven-year-old Hakeem Blaze, of Hyattsville, sold the stolen computers to pawnshops in Maryland and Virginia between 2006 and 2008, including to a cooperating witness for the FBI.

Teen charged in Columbia Heights slaying

A teenager was charged Tuesday in the shooting death of a 48-year-old woman in Columbia Heights. Devonte Carlton, 17, of the 1400 block of Girard Street NW, was charged as an adult with first-degree murder. Deborah Ann Brown was gunned down in 2900 block of 14th Street NW about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police: Man tries to pay for gas with pot

A 52-year-old Frederick man was arrested Monday after he allegedly offered to pay for his gasoline with marijuana. Frederick County sheriff’s deputies said the store clerks called the police, who searched James T. Hart’s motorcycle. Police said they found cocaine, Oxycodone and marijuana on the bike.
