Former D.C. transportation director Gabe Klein is heading to Chicago next month to fill the same post under new Mayor Rahm Emanuel, according to Transportation Nation.
An official announcement is expected Tuesday.
Klein, who led the D.C. Department of Transportation under former Mayor Adrian Fenty, was forced out of his post by Mayor Vince Gray in December. He is credited with moving DDOT to push for more alternative transit options such as the D.C. Circulator system, bike sharing and bike lanes, and was an advocate for streetcars.
According to Transportation Nation, Klein hopes to bring many of the same policies he pushed in D.C. to the Windy City as director of the Chicago Department of Transportation.
