Mount Hebron?s girls lacrosse team (6-1) had its 103-game winning streak snapped Saturday as West Genesee (N.Y.) took control of the game early and went on to a 14-6 victory at Mount Hebron?s 11th Annual Spring Lacrosse Tournament.
The winning streak tied what is believed to be the national record, set by Loch Raven in 1982. The Vikings had hoped to set the wins record and tie the unofficial unbeaten streak record, also set by Loch Raven, at 104 games. However, West Genesee jumped out to a 3-0 lead two minutes into the game and led 6-2 at the half.

The Wildcats did not let them come within three goals the rest of the way.
“They were better than us in all aspects,” Mount Hebron coach Brooke Kuhl-McClelland said. “In every element of the game they were superior to us today.”
McClelland said that despite the team?s disappointment, the girls reacted well to the end of their historic streak.
“They were pretty good about it. They look at it as a game, not the end of the world,” Kuhl-McClelland said. “The pressure from the streak is lifted and we can just focus on playing.”
Jackie Giles scored two goals for Mount Hebron and Marta Chell chipped in with a goal and an assist. The Vikings, who went into today?s matchup having outscored their opponents 108-17 in six games, have won 14 state titles in their history, including a national record 10 in a row.
