Police continue to look for two teenage girls who disappeared from Virginia in early June and have not been seen since.
The girls, Diem Vo and Joan Ly, both 17, were last seen in Fairfax County on June 6. Police think the girls are traveling together and may have gone to New York.
That day, Vo took a cab from her home on the 7900 block of Colorado Springs Drive in Springfield to the Franconia-Springfield Metro station shortly before 4 p.m., said Officer Don Gotthardt, a Fairfax County police spokesman.
Ly, who is from Leesburg, was “willingly transported” from the town and was last seen on the 8000 block of Heller Road in Lorton at about 1 p.m. on June 6, according to Officer Chris Jones of the Leesburg police. Ly did not report to class at Heritage High School in Leesburg on Monday, June 7.
Neither girl took her cell phone or identification with her, police said.
Gotthardt said Vo may have left her home after repeated disagreements with her parents, but there does not appear to be a single event that led to her departure.
Neither girl’s family has had contact with Vo or Ly since June 6, police said.
Vo is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 135 pounds, police said. She has long and straight black hair and brown eyes. Both of her ears are pierced. Police said Vo also goes by Melissa or Autumn. Ly is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 180 pounds. She goes by the nickname Frost.
