In the most pathetic video you’ll probably see all day, the Media Research Center‘s Dan Joseph proves that college kids can’t name even one United States Senator.
Even worse, those kids go to school in Washington, D.C.
In one of his signature videos, Joseph heads to the American University campus, located just a few miles from the U.S. Capitol. He asks students walking around campus to name one person serving in the Senate. And only one of them can actually name a Senator, correctly naming Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).
“I try to stay out of politics,” one girl justifies.
“Yeah, me too,” her friend says.
“Probably good,” Joseph quips.
But things get worse: The students can’t even say how many Senators represent each state.
“Senators each state has — 12, 13?” one student guesses.
Yet if you ask these same students about popular culture, they’re suddenly full of information. Every single one could name the hit song from Disney’s Frozen.
