Scoop: What happened with Rihanna and Chris?

What really happened leading up to Sunday’s shocking incident between Rihanna and Chris Brown? According to TMZ sources, the argument that allegedly led to her being badly beaten — to the point where she could barely open her swollen eyes for police photographs — was sparked by a text message Chris got from a woman who wanted to meet up with him later.

But the text message may just have been the breaking point, as multiple reports say the couple had hit a rough patch. One partygoer says the R&B singers had a public argument at an event Friday night.

“They were in this room and they were just screaming at each other, totally cussing each other out,” the witness recalls. “They were screaming [curses] at each other, back and forth. They were right in each other’s face. It was scary. They were surrounded by all these execs and they were all just ignoring it, as if it was something they saw every day. It was so shocking.”

As the story develops, both Rihanna and Chris have canceled multiple appearances — and he’s losing endorsement deals right and left. We’re all for innocent until proven guilty, but after hearing the alleged details, we can’t blame any company that drops him like a hot potato.

Brangelina’s Wild Bunch

The Jolie-Pitt kids have everything in the world … except, apparently, good manners. As their A-list parents, Angelina and Brad, attended Britain’s BAFTA awards Sunday night, their children were reportedly running wild at a swanky hotel, disrupting guests who complained about the noise.

The U.K.’s Sun reports that Brangelina booked almost an entire floor of London’s posh Dorchester Hotel and gave their four elder children — Maddox, Zahara, Pax and Shiloh — the OK to play outside their suites, with their nanny’s supervision. But they managed to disrupt fellow guests.

“They were running up and down the hallway for over an hour,” a guest griped. “Their nanny tried to quiet them down and move them out the way when people came through. But she had her hands full with the four of them.”

Well, the poor kids are used to being left alone in, like, castles. Is it any wonder they don’t know how to behave around other people?

‘Bonnie’ Battle

Intergenerational catfight alert! After it was announced that Hilary Duff would play the role Faye Dunaway made legendary in a remake of “Bonnie & Clyde,” the older screen siren sniffed, “Couldn’t they have at least cast a real actress?”

Not to be outdone, Hilary shot back to E!, “I think that my fans that are going to go see the movie don’t even know who she is. … I think [her remark] was a little unnecessary, but I might be mad if I looked like that now too.”

But on Tuesday’s “Bonnie Hunt Show,” Hilary maintained that her catty comment was warranted, saying it wasn’t fair for Faye to slam her in the first place.

“She started acting way later than I did, so I think I have time to grow and grow with each project,” the former “Lizzie McGuire” star pointed out. “I am learning and working hard at my craft.”

“It’s not OK for people to take stabs at you and to say mean things for no reason,” Hilary concluded.

No reason? If Faye happened to see “Material Girls,” we think she had a very valid justification to say what she said.

Salma: Single?

Salma Hayek has long since broke off her engagement to baby daddy Francois-Henri Pinault — but she’s kept us guessing thanks to multiple sightings of the sometime pair (parents to Valentina, 1) together.

However, Salma let a big clue slip when she told Rachael Ray that while kissing onscreen love interest Alec Baldwin on “30 Rock,” “I keep telling Francois, ‘I imagine I was kissing you.’”

So … either their romance is definitely back on, or they have an even odder relationship than we thought.
