Republican Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert called former special counsel Robert Mueller an “anal opening” on Monday.
“He’s done some irreparable damage to some things and he’s got to answer for them,” said Gohmert.
Democrats and Republicans in Congress have debated on whether Mueller’s report on Russian collusion vindicates President Trump. Many Republicans say that the conclusions of the report clear the president on charges of collusion, while Democrats have honed in on Mueller’s statements regarding obstruction of justice.
“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so,” Mueller said in a May press conference at the Department of Justice.
Gohmert said that Mueller’s findings “reinforced the anal opening that I believe Mueller to be.” He will be one of the 25 House Republicans who will question Mueller during his July 17 testimony on the findings and conclusions within his report on the 2016 election.
