The suspect in a string of violent home invasion robberies in suburban Maryland confessed to the attacks after he was apprehended in North Carolina over the weekend, Montgomery County prosecutors said Tuesday. Kevin D. Ray — a 33-year-old Fort Washington man with a criminal history that includes manslaughter, robbery and sex offense convictions — admitted to the home invasions in Wheaton, Bethesda and Temple Hills in interviews, prosecutor Peter Feeney said at a bond hearing. Ray told investigators that he and another man had been robbing drug dealers in the District and his partner was recently killed.
He said he began the home invasion spree because he “was now on his own,” Feeney said.
Judge Barry Hamilton ordered Ray to remain in custody without bond.
