Vote on state property tax rates postponed

The Board of Public Works has postponed an annual vote on the state?s property tax rate until next week.

The vote was scheduled for Wednesday, but delayed to April 26 because Comptroller and Board Member Peter Franchot was recovering from illness.

The board is expected to approve a recommendation from the Commission on State Debt to maintain the current rate of 11.2 cents per $100 assessed value.

The board must adopt a rate by May 1.
