House Speaker Paul Ryan plans to talk by phone with Dr. Ben Carson before Thursday’s planned meeting with presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.
A Ryan aide told the Washington Examiner the call would take place some time prior to Thursday, when Ryan, Trump and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus huddle at party headquarters near the Capitol.
Carson has endorsed Trump and said he wants to reach out to Ryan to smooth the way to an amicable relationship.
Ryan, R-Wis., said last week he is not ready to endorse Trump.
