You really had to feel for the broadcast crew of Dave O’Brien, Tommy Smyth and Eric Wynalda, along with sideline reporters Allen Hopkins, and Bonnie Bernstein.
They did a great job last night covering a very bad game.
Chelsea won the game 1-0
Becks played the final 12 mins of the game and touched the ball about half a dozen times.
We saw a great many shots from the luxury suite where Victoria Beckham was playing host to Eva Longoria and Katie Holmes. As a whimsical Wynalda asked as daylight turned to night “Is Victoria ever going to take off those sunglasses.”
ESPN dispatched sideline reporter extraordinaire Bonnie Bernstein to handle the celebrity interviews and to her credit she was not star struck and did a good job chatting with everyone from California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to Drew Carey.
It has to get better for both Becks and the MLS.
