Two new polls released on Monday show Ben Carson up big over Donald Trump in Iowa: A Monmouth poll shows Carson ahead of Trump 32 percent to 18 percent (with Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio tied for third place at 10 percent each), while a Loras College poll shows Carson leading Trump 31 percent to 19 percent (with Rubio in third at 10 percent).
Trump had been in first place in every Iowa poll from the beginning of July to the end of September, according to RealClearPolitics. On October 16, Trump blamed President George W. Bush for not stopping the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Since then, Trump has trailed Carson in four out of five polls released (they were tied in the fifth).
Trump responded last week to the first poll showing him losing in Iowa by sharing a tweet suggesting that Iowans had “issues in the brain.” Trump later blamed a “young intern” for “accidentally” sharing a tweet that suggested Iowans are dumb.
