[WATCH] Florida man finds it’s impossible to cancel insurance plan under Obamacare

Signing up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act was downright disastrous for millions of Americans. But for one Florida man, canceling his plan is proving to be absolutely impossible.

After selecting a plan from Florida Blue health insurance for $300 per month under the Affordable Care Act, Andrew Robinson of Orlando, Fla., found a much cheaper plan through Humana for almost half the cost. Though only a half hour had passed, Robinson found canceling his first policy in exchange for a cheaper one would be nearly impossible.

“I immediately called back Florida Blue and asked them to cancel the policy,” he told Florida’s WFTV.

The insurance company told Robinson they could cancel his policy automatically as he was covered by two plans. But instead, the company almost “wiped out our account,” accepting the payment for his $300 premium and leaving the policy in place.

Robinson has since spent between 50 and 60 hours on the telephone attempting to get his policy terminated, but to no avail.

“This is like just taking my patience right to the end, and I am on the verge of, I mean, exploding,” he said.

According to WFTV, Florida Blue told Robinson they cannot cancel his plan until they receive word of his new policy from the Obamacare exchange. However, the marketplace told Robinson that’s something “they can’t do.”
