Some people like to brush off their mistakes with a little dose of humor. But apparently “some people” doesn’t include Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
Sebelius headed to Memphis, Tenn., on Friday for an education and outreach session about Obamacare’s health insurance marketplace with residents of the River City. While the White House decided to bring in the tech industries best and brightest to solve the problems with healthcare.gov, Tennessee Republican state Sen. Brian Kelsey had an idea of his own, handing Sebelius the book “Web Sites for Dummies.”

Since the rollout of Obamacare’s exchanges, Sebelius has come under fire for the site’s rampant error messages, system malfunctions and slow upload speed. During her testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday, the Secretary apologized and took the blame for the botched site, but hey, a little reading never hurt anyone.
Memphis’s Daily News was on hand to capture the exact moment Sebelius received the, er, gift. But she was hardly amused.

According to the Sun Herald, Sebelius went on to discuss the “misinformation” surrounding Obamacare that has left some Americans confused.
“There is no question there is still an extraordinary amount of misinformation,” she said. “If 55 percent of the people understand a little more about how it affects them and their families, that means that 45 percent of the people still don’t have any idea, and may have believed that there is anything from death panels for Medicare constituents or something will happen to their health benefits or any number of things that continue to be said over and over again.”
