The House did not include any new restrictions on how District spends local taxpayer dollars in its appropriations bill released Wednesday.
The bill would bar D.C. from spending local funds on abortion, a restriction already included in the current federal budget. But it doesn’t restrict city spending on needle exchange programs, medical marijuana or same-sex marriage, which had been a concern of District officials.
