Prince George’s County police are seeking two people who helped with a traffic accident that led to the police-involved shooting of a Odenton teenager.
The crash happened Saturday after a suspect, 19-year-old Keston David Lewis, tried to steal a Porsche at a gas station and stabbed the car’s owner. Lewis fled in another car and got involved in a multi-car crash in Takoma Park, police said.
Two Good Samaritans came to the aid of crash victims, including Lewis. He then attempted to carjack a red BMW belonging to a black woman who stopped to offer aid, police said. A Hispanic man came to her aid and got into a confrontation with the suspect, police said.
Police arrived and Lewis struggled with a Takoma Park police officer. A fellow officer, fearing the officer’s safety, fired at Lewis. He later died at a hospital.
Police would like to talk with the people involved to learn more about the incident. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (301) 772-4925.
