Two local police officers took top honors at a regional motorcycle competition and fundraiser.
The Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Training and Safety Competition raised funds for Concerns of Police Survivors, which helps families of officers killed in the line of duty. The competition, hosted by the Montgomery County police in Gaithersburg, tested officers’ advanced motorcycle-riding skills.
D.C. police Sgt. Todd Patterson won the top expert rider award and Fairfax County Officer Richard McEachin won the prize for the top novice rider.
Proceeds raised were still being tallied Friday.
A total of 135 officers from 38 police agencies participated in the competition.
