3 hospitalized after CO exposure in NW home

A 49-year-old man and his two teenage sons were hospitalized in serious condition Tuesday after they were found unconscious in their Northwest apartment suffering from over exposure to carbon monoxide, authorities said. A 15-year-old boy had an appointment with a counselor on Tuesday and when he called to say he didn’t feel well, the counselor called authorities fearing something was wrong, a fire department spokesman said. When rescue workers arrived at the home on Seaton Place, they found the family unconscious rushed them to the hospital, authorities said.

Horse rescued from sinkhole

A horse that fell into a 12-foot sinkhole in Frederick was pulled out by rescue workers five hours later, authorities said. The hole opened up Monday at a farm on Creagerstown Road. Rescue workers dug a ditch and used a rubber sled placed underneath the horse to pull out Chief the horse, authorities said.

Montgomery County fights two fires

Four people were rescued from a Germantown apartment building balcony two hours before Montgomery County firefighters pulled two injured residents from a Rockville blaze. No one was injured in the early morning Germantown fire that started in the lobby of the building on the 12200 block of Eagles Nest Court and kept the residents from leaving on their own, authorities said. One of the people pulled from the burning Rockville single-family house on Balmoral Court was seriously burned, the other mildly burned. Authorities do not believe the two fires were linked.



Va. bank robber killed in prison

A 25-year-old inmate convicted of robbing an Alexandria bank was stabbed to death in a federal prison in Louisiana, officials said. Carlton Rama Coltrane was serving an 11-year, nine-month sentence for the armed bank robbery, when he was stabbed with a shank by another inmate Monday evening, authorities said.
