Since transferring from Air Force after his freshman year, Whittenberg has started every game for the Terrapins. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder was named Maryland’s co-defensive most valuable player as a sophomore. He currently has a team-high 22 caused turnovers for the No. 6 Terrapins, who won at No. 7 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, 11-4. Whittenberg is also third on the team in total ground balls (36).
An All-Examiner selection in 2003, Whittenberg was a United States Lacrosse All-American that season as the Bruins (11-5) reached the Northern Region Tournament semifinals before losing to eventual region champion Oakton. He was also named the defensive most valuable player and rookie of the year after his one season at Air Force.
