Multiple people stabbed at workplace in Florida

At least five people have been hospitalized after a stabbing at a workplace in Tallahassee, Florida.

Police in Florida’s capital responded to reports of a stabbing at Dyke Industries shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arriving to the industrial park where the company is located, officers discovered multiple victims suffering from stab wounds, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare spokeswoman Danielle Buchanan said that her hospital is treating six people from the incident.

“They are currently being evaluated by our medical team. We will provide an update as soon as more information becomes available,” she said.

Although it was initially thought that there were six victims, a hospital spokesperson said Wednesday that there were actually five. One victim is in serious condition, two are in fair condition, and two others are in good condition.

Family members gathered Tuesday morning outside the perimeter police set up at the scene of the attack. Marquitta Campbell said she was on the phone with her husband, Bobby Riggins Jr., who had arrived for a job interview when she heard a commotion and he told her he had been stabbed.

“The next thing I know, he said, ‘Baby, I’ve been stabbed five times,’” Campbell said. “‘I’ve been stabbed.’”

The suspect taken into custody has not yet been identified, nor has a motive for the attack been released.
