Herman Cain’s ‘poet’ is Donna Summer

A friend of mine sends me the following story:

In Thursday night’s Republican primary debate in Iowa, Cain quoted “a poet” as having once said, “Life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it’s never easy when there’s so much on the line” These are lyrics from “The Power of One,” a song written for Pokemon: The Movie 2000 by “poet” Donna Summer.

The claim certainly passes the Google test, although Cain’s website attributes the quote to the 2000 Olympics closing theme song. Cain himself, told the Daily Caller, “I first heard those words sung to the song that was the closing song to the 2000 Olympics,” he stated. “And Donna Summer may have sung it, but I don’t remember.”

The Caller’s Tina Nguyen has already investigated, and notes that the song does not appear on the Sydney Olympic Games closing ceremony’s set list, nor does the song.
