Worried that GOP voter apathy and complacency driven by a view that President Obama hasn’t done much in office is sparking an urgent drive among conservative activists to wake voters up to policies they claim the West Wing is using to assault traditional values and the economy.
“We are finally getting the picture of unbridled liberalism,” warned author David Limbaugh.
Limbaugh, brother of Rush and a New York Times bestseller, is driving the effort to remind Americans of the moves Obama’s team has taken to push their agenda. His new book, “The Great Destroyer, Barack Obama’s War on the Republic,” out Monday, is a 150-point list of reasons–from Obamacare to Fast & Furious to logging historic time on the golf course–Limbaugh says the president must go.
“I’m trying to raise public awareness and urgency to fight the complacency and apathy that he hasn’t done anything,” said Limbaugh, a Missouri lawyer. “I just don’t understand why people say they like him.”
In beginning his book promotion, Limbaugh spoke first to Secrets. He said that in considering the new book, he figured to list the issues conservatives don’t like about Obama, with a focus on policies and the economy. He then expanded it to include social issues, such as abortion initiatives, and even traits that irk some voters, such as the time the president spends on the golf course or on vacation.
“When I reread what I had written, I was shocked,” said Limbaugh.
Most know the headlines: Obamacare. Solyndra, Fast & Furious, auto bailout, stimulus, unemployment, defense cuts, regulation. But Limbaugh also criticized Obama’s approach. He said that the administration has a “self-righteous and arrogant attitude” and, when criticized, either barks at the critics or sometimes yells racism.
The president’s aides have heard these criticisms before and argue that Obama arrived in the White House with an agenda to stimulate a dying economy and reform health care, two major issues they said he succeeded with. Voting for Mitt Romney, they add, will only return the nation back to the disaster economy Obama was handed in 2009.
But Limbaugh said that Obama’s first four years are just a down payment on the next four if he is reelected. “We’re on autopilot to bankruptcy and I’m trying to alert people with plain data,” said Limbaugh. “You have to wonder what Obama’s end game is.”
He concludes by suggesting that Obama’s personal popularity won’t be enough to win him reelection. He also calls on conservatives to vote out Senate Democrats.
“It is still not too late to save America and restore her to a path of greatness, of robust liberty, and of economic prosperity. But I fear it is not hyperbole to suggest that it very well may be too late if we don’t end this madness in November by voting Barack Obama out of office,” he wrote.
