Roberts: Scalia was ‘admired and treasured’

Chief Justice John Roberts issued a statement on the death of Associate Justice Antonin Scalia Saturday, saying that he was “an extraordinary individual and jurist.”

“On behalf of the Court and retired justices, I am saddened to report our colleague Justice Antonin has passed away,” Roberts said.

“He was an extraordinary individual and jurist, admired and treasured by his colleagues,” Roberts said.

“His passing is a great loss to the court and the country he so loyally served,” Roberts said.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Maureen and his family,” Roberts said.
