Bill Clinton admonished a voter Friday who called for the incarceration of GOP nominee Donald Trump, and the former president encouraged voters to keep their focus on putting a Democrat in the White House this fall.
“Don’t do that. That’s the kind of stuff they say,” Clinton said, referring to some of the inflammatory rhetoric at Trump rallies.
Clinton had charged in a speech in Pennsylvania that Trump illegally brought Chinese steel into the U.S. to build his properties, and implied it was steel that was dumped into the U.S. market at less than fair-market value.
“It was illegal! And [Trump and his team] knew it was because they brought [the steel] through two shadow companies that were set up to run the steel through so it had different names,” he added.
A man in the audience replied by taking a page from the Trump rallies, and he shouted about Trump, “Lock him up!”
“I don’t want you to lock him up. I want you to lock him out of the White House,” Clinton said to cheers.
