Videos posted on social media show police responding to victims along the interstate near Midland and Odessa, Texas.
Police at first believed two shooters were firing at random in separate vehicles, with dozens of people shot.
“We believe there are two shooters in two separate vehicles. One suspect is believed to be at the Cinergy in Midland and the other is believed to be driving on Loop 250 in Midland,” Midland police said. “The two vehicles in question are: gold/white small Toyota truck and a USPS Postal Van Please stay away from these areas and stay indoors.”
In a press conference, however, police later said it was only one gunman, and the reports on two gunmen came from the fact the shooter changed vehicles during the incident. He has since been shot and killed, according to police, and there is no more active shooter threat in the area.
