Coulter: Welcome to Occupy the Marriott

The Occupiers were on everybody’s minds on Friday and Ann Coulter was no different. She began her twenty-minute speech with a targeted insult at the Occupy movement, some of whom were standing outside the conference at the time. Her remarks were peppered with her signature snark and humor with a serious political warning about the future of the United States.

Coulter refused to back down from her support of Mitt Romney, stating he’s the best candidate and the only one capable of beating Obama come November. Her more dire warning was about “Obamacare.” Specifically, we must repeal it within a year or run the risk of never being rid of it.

Even though Coulter is a Romney fan, she understands he’s faced (and will face) some criticism. But she is sick of the “Romney looks like a Ken doll” argument. She’d rather the criticism take the direction that Romney might be a little old-fashioned. “Let’s try [calling him] square for a while,” she suggested.

Even though she admonished the Republican Party for nominating John McCain who she felt was far too moderate, she seems to be happy with the current crop of candidates. She feels the right wing has taken solid control of the GOP and all of the current Presidential candidates are true conservatives.

Speaking in favor of Romney, she assured the crowd he has the strongest stance against illegal immigration, which she described as “the most important issue” in 2012. She believes the United States would go into a decline if Obama wins in November, and this is the most important election of our lives

Though some in the audience were uncomfortable with her outward support of Mitt Romney, she was still a hit. She uses her sharp humor and snarky tone to her advantage and it resonated very well with the audience.
